REASONS YOU SHOULD'NT MAKE USE OF SLIDER IN YOUR WEBSITE

SEO and Slider

People tend to act as if there’s no other way to show their images but by sliders. This simply isn’t true. The truth be told, I for sometime now have tried to change my themes. Reasons being : I needed a theme with slider.

Until lately, I stumbled on an article, then I figured that maybe sliders ain’t really necessary.

Often times, SEO Experts and conversion experts agree on the fact that sliders make little or no impact on a site.

I wanna share reasons why it is not advisable to make use of slider in websites

1 Only 1% of an audience actually click on a slide, which almost always was the first slide.
2 Most times than often: Sliders confuse people, as you’re sending multiple offers they may or may not be interested in at once.
3 People simply ignore your slider, because it triggers banner blindness.
4 On that same note, visitors just don’t get the message because they will skip the messages in your slider as they consider it advertisement or promotions.
5 They slow down your site, negatively impacting your SEO and conversion rate.
6 Sliders don’t always work well on mobile devices.
7 They push down your content, which is not smart, as Google already mentioned in 2012.
8 It’s most probably as effective to use just one image instead of putting all that effort in slider plugins and images.
9 That’s just the tip of the iceberg. Over the years, many studies have shown that sliders should be avoided.

MY THOUGHT ON SLIDERS

The truth is I don’t really know what makes people think that one can’t have a site without sliders. These sliders most times shifts the focus of your site. And leaves the customer in a confused state of what to choose, or what to read.

Secondly, sliders push down main contents, in cases where statistics shows that some of the sliders now cover a page, therefore occupying space for main contents. And therefore strikes down your SEO optimization.

Finally, you feel like “hell no….I need a slider” then it’s cool. But bear it in mind that sliders slow down SEO optimization and 99% of people don’t click on sliders.
